How grease actually clogs a line
Fats, oils, and grease (the industry calls them FOG) go down the drain as warm liquid, then cool and solidify on the pipe walls a few feet later. Each pan adds a layer. The pipe's diameter shrinks month by month until one busy Friday the last few inches close - which is why grease clogs always seem sudden and never are.
Jetting vs cabling: two different jobs
- A cable (snake) drills a hole through the blockage - flow returns, but the grease lining stays on the walls
- A hydro jetter scours the full circumference of the pipe with high-pressure water and flushes the debris out
