A Memorial Day Leak, Hidden Mold, and a Bathroom Made New: The Lowe Story
Margaret Lowe's bathroom sprang an emergency leak on Memorial Day weekend, so she went looking for "plumbers who would be working 24 hours a day." She found the True family online, and True Plumbers came out to run the leak down. Under the garden tub, where the leak had started, they found mold climbing the wall and hiding behind the vanity - so the same True family carried the job from leak detection through demolition to a full remodel. Her review when it was done: "the guys were very respectful of our home... their mitigation department did a fantastic job."
Why bathroom leaks hide mold so well
A bathroom leak rarely announces itself where it starts. Water follows gravity and framing, pooling under tubs and behind vanities - enclosed, dark, unventilated spaces that stay damp indefinitely. Mold can establish on wet building materials within a day or two, and by the time it shows on a visible surface, the colony behind the wall is usually older and larger. That is why the discovery in Margaret's story is so common: the leak is the symptom, the moisture map is the disease.
Leak detection before demolition
Good crews find the leak before they open anything, using moisture meters to map how far water traveled, thermal imaging to spot temperature differences behind surfaces, and pressure testing to isolate which line is losing water. The goal is to open exactly what is wet and nothing that is dry - demolition guided by instruments instead of hunches. Margaret notes the leak "was pretty hard to find"; hard-to-find is precisely where instrumentation earns its keep.
Why one team from leak to rebuild matters
- No coverage gap between "the plumber's job" and "the restoration company's job" - one scope, one accountability
- One documentation trail for insurance: cause, moisture readings, drying logs, and rebuild scope from a single source
- The rebuild crew knows exactly what was behind the wall, because their own team opened it
