A Toilet Supply Line Flooded This Whole House at 12:30 AM. Here Is the Response.
The homeowners came home around 12:30 at night and found water running out of the garage and down the driveway. The cause was a failed toilet supply line - and it affected the whole house. True responded within an hour and started extraction that night; this video is the walk-through at day three, with roughly 35 air movers and several dehumidifiers still running.
The first 30 minutes: your flood checklist
- Stop the water: the fixture's shutoff first, the home's main shutoff if you cannot find or turn it
- Stay out of standing water until you are sure power to that area is off at the breaker
- Photograph and video everything before moving a single item - insurance pays on documentation
- Move what is movable: rugs, electronics, furniture legs onto foil or blocks
- Call for professional extraction immediately - this is a middle-of-the-night call, not a Monday call
Why the clock matters so much
Water keeps working after it stops flowing. Drywall wicks it upward, wood flooring cups and crowns, and mold can establish on wet materials within 24 to 48 hours. The difference between a dry-out and a demolition is usually the response time in this video's first line - within the hour - not anything that happens on day three.
What professional drying actually involves
Extraction pulls the standing water; air movers and dehumidifiers then chase the moisture that soaked in, staged room by room and repositioned daily based on moisture-meter readings, not guesses. Equipment typically comes out around day three or four depending on severity - and only when the numbers say dry, because rebuilding over damp framing just schedules a mold problem. A small supply line did all the damage in this video; anything with a hose or a valve can.
